It was first purchased in 1953 for $350.00, which was a lot of money back then.  The very frugal mother of the bride decided after it was worn by the eldest sister in the family it was going to be passed down to the youngest sister who was married in 1957.  I've spoken to the sisters who have gladly shared both of their wedding day stories with me - they are just lovely ladies!   I could go on and on - but now onto the gown...

When I aquired the gown in 2000 it was unfortunately unable to mantain it's original condition. The sleeves were too fragile and damaged to repair and the Sabrina lace neckline also had some issues - so it was altered and updated so it could be worn once again. A layer of lace and irridescent ribbon -? is hand sewn onto the center of the bodice. Has aged into a wonderful 'Antique White' color, dress is all silk, very full gathered skirt which extends to a full length chapel train.  Color photos show dress with med. full crinoline - I would definately recommend wearing with a very full one - for that princess ball gown look. The dress had a cleaning years ago so there are no spots anywhere but the skirt could use a good steaming!  Petite size 1 or 2 (Shown on 32" Bust, 24" Waist - with no room to spare - there are minor seam allowances.)
